About these paintings, there are some pictures which are similarly different in concept and technique but as far as skill is concerned I would say that up until 'Drabstract' (2008) almost any of the previous years could have easily been stylistically interchangeable. The freedom of expression is consistently bound by technical skill as well as creativity. In 2012 I enrolled in an Atelier studio in Chicago where I began a more rigid academic pursuit. That is how the realistic Still Life series emerges into the later years of this timeline. The 'Studio Mule' (2016) which is a portrait of Mulordano Bruno painting a carrot moved forward the process of combining old ideas with new techniques.

All of these paintings were painted with oil, acrylic, or air brush paint. A few of the pictures have air brushed backgrounds as I found that it enhanced the depth of the pictures especially in the 'Second to the Last Supper' and 'The Last Library Book' which I believe are some of the most complete and finest reproductions in this collection. In two of the other paintings, 2003 and 2006, I collaged together photos from the front page of the local newspaper. However, I do not like using photographs other than my own and so I stopped that approach.

We all like different images for different reasons. I have my favorites and I have found out from various art shows that other people do as well. 'Aliens on Vacation,' 'Van Gogh Fish,' as well as, 'Funeral for a Fish,' and 'The Porch' have always been popular. People have said that they like the subtleties of 'The Swing' and the calming effect of 'The Therapist'.

If I had any alternative images for the years of 'The Ladies Auxiliary' and 'Alien Operation' they would have been replaced. As it played out I had a painting to fit every year of this timeline concept. The still life '2015 Fertility' printed and stretched on a 16”x20” canvas and a '2014 Onion Tea' stretched on a 12”x12” canvas make great framed giclee prints that can be proudly displayed in any environment.
